PA, May 18, 2005] - Lehigh Valley arts organization BeLeVe-Best
of the Lehigh Valley and Bethlehem, PA-based non-profit organization
CAT-Coalition for Appropriate Transportation are planning a
Walk 'n Rock Block Party in downtown Bethlehem on July 2, 2005
from Noon to 8 p.m. The event is free.
BeLeVe's mission is to expose the area's live music with several
concerts throughout the year. CAT exists to promote bicycle
riding, walking and public transit. The Walk 'n Rock Block Party
blends the sensibilities of BeLeVe and CAT for an innovative
community event that will showcase to downtown Bethlehem residents
all of the exciting and varied merchants and live music available
to them within walking distance.
The City
of Bethlehem will be blocking off Guetter Street between Rippers
Pub and the parking garage for live music staging. Scheduled
to perform are Bethlehem and Lehigh Valley rock and blues bands
Poker Face, George Hrab & The Geologic Orchestra, Cordova,
Settle, Stereo Agency, Kef, Driver, The Unpronounceable, The
Ooftah Boys, and more to be announced. There will be a bicycle
flea market and indoor and outdoor bicycle programming. Many
merchants along Main Street, Broad Street, and the downtown
Bethlehem area will be taking part with special Block Party
offers and discounts on their wide-ranging selection of goods
and services.
The Walk
' Rock Block Party will be supported with print and radio advertising,
as well as a program guide and map that will be distributed
to 5,000 downtown Bethlehem residents and merchants. Early sponsors
include The City of Bethlehem, Pulse Weekly, The Bethlehem Parking
